Bio: Angela Matthews

Cyan Dezign
Angela grew up in Dorset, UK in an area designated as a protected World Heritage site known as the Jurassic Coast, so named for its many fossils.

Coastlines are a main influence for Angela’s choice of subject matter. Countless hours of pleasure were spent on the beach at Kimmeridge with the Famous Clavell Tower standing guard above, and at Lulworth Cove with its rugged rock formations as well as Studland Beach with its sandy dunes.

Food and beverage is another main influence. For seven years, Angela owned and operated a small bakery, coffee shop and restaurant. A reflection in a wine glass or the sun highlighting the orange peel in a jar of marmalade has inspired her imagination and resulted in a series of paintings.

When Angela finished with her restaurant business, she travelled for two years in Australia and New Zealand and finally settled in BC, Canada to explore the West Coast. During her time in BC, Angela attended the Emily Carr Institute and earned her degree in Fine Arts with a major in painting. After she graduated she pursued an art practice under the name

Angela continues to enjoy work in all art mediums with solo and group exhibits.
